Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
The current generative AI revolution will have as great an impact on education as the personal computer did back in the early 1980s. While some educators remain reserved about using these new tools, the presenter argues they present significant opportunities to enhance learning across subjects, from the arts to core curriculum. Examples are provided of how AI can be leveraged for tasks like lesson planning, music composition, and creative writing. However, the author also acknowledges concerns around plagiarism, "hallucinations" (incorrect information), and the potential for misuse through deepfakes. The author advises that teachers and parents must work together to help students navigate this new era of AI-powered education, which is still in its early stages but will likely become more powerful and prevalent in the years to come.
