The virtual science fair has all wrapped up now. Was quite good actually - another resource for teaching science.
Looking forward to Thailand - make the most of it.
Glad to hear its all going good in Egypt. As for me here - well, let's just say I'm at peace with it all. Take it easy and catch up again soon. Greg.
One thing I might share: The longer I've been out of the classroom, the more I realize the truth to the statement that while we should love what we teach, we shouldn't necessarily teach what we love. I realize that in math classes we often create a curriculum that includes things that excite us as math people, not necessarily the things that are interesting and useful for students. I'm sure that must be true in other subject areas.
I'm interested in your self-description as passionate about digital photography. I don't claim passion, but I do take a lot of pictures. My current camera is a Panasonic Lumix (I was persuaded by the 10x optical Leica lens) and have an unwieldy collection. I own PhotoShop, but haven't learned to use it because I've got along so well by the shareware Graphic Converter.
I'm not sure if this sort of conversation is appropriate for this venue, so I'll stop.
Aloha and soifua,
John
Thanks for the link. It appears it could be a useful network. Not sure how often I will check in, but I'll give it a trial run. I'll be in Bangkok in April for NESA conference '08. AP Physics B workshop run by Connie Wells.
Just wish I could have more time to check it out than what I do have at present. Trust your new position is going well enough for you. I'm e-mentoring a science student at your school through NESA virtual science fair this year. Last thing to expect was the internet problem that you guys in Egypt (and us in Saudi) have been experiencing - so many stories floating around about it. Everything from a submarine hit the underground sea cable to an elephant tripped on it and pulled the plug out! :-)
Have a good one anyways!
Cheers.
Greg.
