The School-Wide Learning Commons: a Vision and Overview

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

It is time to transform the traditional school library into a learning commons that extends across the school and on into the home. Yes it is still a physical space but also has a very large virtual learning commons that replaces the traditional library website. In the physical space, everything is moveable to satisfy the needs of individuals and groups at any time of day. The virtual space is a giant collaborative learning community the pushes out information, technology and collaborative work with both teachers and students into their classrooms and on their preferred devices anywhere they happen to be connected to the Internet. Wit a leadership cadre of all the specialists in the school, the school-wide learning commons is the heart of teaching and learning. It becomes a place not only to consume knowledge, but to create knowledge. From childhood through teen years, it concentrates on self-directed learning that will produce the leaders of tomorrow. Join us and participate in the description and construction of such a strategic asset to education.
