An educational revolutionary; a newfound educational futurist who believes education is the pathway to peace, I am particularly passionate about empowering teachers who can then inspire their students. Having worked in distance education for over two decades on just about every LMS and CMS in teaching, development and leadership roles, I have gained a broad, diverse knowledge base. Through networking, attending conferences, reading and other avenues, I see where dots can be connected on the vast ever-changing educational grid. The face of education is changing and I want to be a successful part of this change and help others do the same. Through my education consulting business I aspire to connect the dots and fill in the gaps to solidify the foundation and unbounded potential of distance education. I hold a B.A Honours from Trent University, a B.Ed from Queen's University and an M.Ed from Queen's University. I am interested in Technology use for L2 learning and teaching. I enjoy communicating with other teachers from all over the world via my blog, twitter account or various facebook groups. As of September 2012 I have begun to aligned my programing with the CEFR and teach by way of authentic tasks based on the interest of the students. Authentic tasks in Core French have great value and meaning to students outside of the classroom. They are motivating and engaging. My classroom conditions support students in learning by way of authentic tasks. Authentic Tasks are aligned with Learning Goals for Student Success. As a Core French teacher, I scaffold and model language instruction. A social climate has been created during French language learning time that supports students in working together productively and encourages them to take risks and try new things! When students are working in an authentic situation to complete an authentic task I am able to provide authentic assessment of learning that is integrated within the tasks and reflective of the Learning Goals. In May 2012, I joined the Limestone DSB's Learning Connections team which strives to support educators to embed the use of information technology tools into their professional learning and classroom practice through face-to-face learning opportunities, participation in online community discussions, video conferencing opportunities, webcasts and monthly virtual planning meetings.

In addition to being a grade level coordinator he is a dedicated varsity tennis and middle school basketball coach. An experienced international educator, Sneideman taught middle school science in both Costa Rica, where he pioneered a project-based learning curriculum, and Trinidad and Tobago, where he taught the interdisciplinary “Watershed Program” developed by the National Green Ribbon Award-winning Radnor Middle School of Pennsylvania. Sneideman holds a Master of Arts degree with a concentration in Educational Leadership from Framingham State University, and a Bachelors of Arts in Geology and Environmental Science with a minor in Spanish from James Madison University. Prior to beginning his career as a middle school science educator, Sneideman worked as a hydro-geologist mapping and remediating groundwater contamination along the East Coast of the United States. In 1998, Sneideman received the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Grant in support of his undergraduate research conducting a cladistics analysis of an extinct fossil to help resolve the clade at the base of familia iguanidae. In 2007, he received the United States Department of State CAFTA-DR Small Grant in support of his efforts to create an intercollegiate environmental congress to enhance environmental education for both public and private schools in Costa Rica. This organization is now in its sixth year and has educated thousands of students around their motto “think globally; act locally.” Sneideman was honored to be awarded the first ever peer recognition award at the Lincoln School in Costa Rica. He has presented at local and regional conferences in California on topics ranging from differentiated lesson planning to the use of technology in the classroom. His most recent presentation was a half day workshop on behalf of the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) on micro blogging, RSS, and expanding one’s digital footprint. An article he wrote will appear in the September issue of Faculty Newsletter, the quarterly publication by CAIS. Sneideman recently published an article in SCOPE the Newsletter for the NAGC Curriculum Studies Newtork on student centered learning. He is also thrilled to be authoring a TED Ed original animated short on analogies for geologic time, slated for release at the end of the 2013. Josh’s teaching philosophy centers around constructivist principles utilizing project-based learning environments. He credits his initial teaching experience as an outdoor educator for providing him with many of the techniques he uses in creating a positive student centered learning environment. Sneideman is motivated by his intense desire to improve the quality of the environment at a local, national, and international level through education. “I became an educator to have the greatest environmental impact possible. As a hydro-geologist cleaning up oil spills I was simply a band-aid on a much larger problem. I switched careers as I came to realize education was the best way to affect a generational shift in environmental consciousness.” Josh and Carolina, his wife of 6 years, can be found in their free time playing at the park with their two daughters, age 4 and 1. He enjoys crewing sailboat races and kayaking the flat waters of Virginia’s many amazing rivers

Others Are Us
My three areas of passionate involvement are arts, education and advocacy. I trained as an artist, went on to get education credentials and then leaped into law school. I have done large scale installations focused on issues confronting us at a variety of venues. I believe education is a right and have worked to improve education in the schools most left behind by underfunding and populations lacking political clout. I strongly feel arts are a critical part of every truly functional society and continue to work towards greater recognition of their importance for all human beings young, old or in-between. I founded Others Are Us in 2012 as a vehicle for connecting youth from different cultures and backgrounds through art and technology. Reinventing the Classroom

I am an Australian who calls Brisbane her hometown but I currently reside in Quito, Ecuador where I am the Director of The British School Quito. I am an educational leader, motivational speaker, international educator and businesswoman who has nearly twenty-five years experience in education in the United Kingdom, Australia, Europe, Asia and South America. In 2006 I founded my own business, Teepee Consulting, through which I have had the opportunity to facilitate positive and effective change within learning communities around the world, through the delivery of leadership and professional development and coaching programs. I obtained my undergraduate degree in education from the University of South Australia and I hold a graduate Diploma in Management. I have been an invited speaker at a range of international and national conferences speaking on such topics as, positive, effective and ethical leadership; positive staff development, appraisal and retention programs; higher order thinking skills; creating cultures of excellence; curriculum development for 21st century learners; and capability building in education teams. Before moving to Ecuador I have lived in Peru, Russia, Romania, Australia and the UK but I have worked with many other schools in Asia, South America and Europe as a consultant. Whilst in Peru I led the “Re-Building Childrens' Lives” concert project designed to contribute to aiding communities, in the south of Peru, after the devastating earthquake that occurred in 2007. I helped to organise, and participated in, a range of concerts and musical events to raise funds for this, and other, important community service projects. Now I am here in Quito, Ecuador enjoying all that Ecuador and Quito have to offer. The British School Quito is a small but growing school with an excellent reputation and a high standard of academic excellence. We offer the British National Curriculum and the IB Diploma and we are proud to be accredited by both the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. We are currently the only school in Ecuador that offers all three sciences in English at Higher Level in the IB Diploma. The school has a truly warm and collegial atmosphere with very supportive parents and an engaged learning community. I am truly enjoying my experience at BSQ.
